Case Studies

The best way to find out what Box-seven Media is capable of is to browse through our case studies. Here you will find out how we bring a project from an idea into a fully functioning reality.  Our past projects range from print ads for newspapers to complete social network web sites. We have a wide range of experience, because we are always up for a challenge. It’s what make our job worth while. If you have an idea, send us a message, and we can schedule a time to chat.

Vida e Caffé

Vida e Caffe CardsVida e Caffé is a coffee shop located in the small town of Globe, Arizona. The name means ‘Life and Coffee,’ and in a small town with little to do outside of a bar, Vida felt that ‘life’ was fundamental to their image. Box-seven Media has helped with Vida since its inception, assisting in bringing it through the idea phase into the successful reality it is today.

Logo
The first thing we did with Vida was to create a logo around the name. We went with simple icons using a leaf and a cup and a sans serif typeface to create a pretty solid identity. These icons continue to cross over into the décor of the coffee shop. With an abundance of plants and a strong emphasis on glasswear the cup and the leaf become very representative of Vida. Business Cards
The second step in our work with Vida was to create business and punch cards. We used the logo on the back without the text to continue to try to create brand recognition. We also went with a strong terracotta color, which matched the painted tiles on the floors.

Print Ad
When Vida e Caffé told us that they were going to be placing an ad in all of the local hotels, we wanted to make sure what people saw really caught their eye. Rather than choosing to place an abundance of information on the page we felt that the ad would be most effective with a simple image that portrayed life. We took out the camera and started shooting and ended up choosing a picture of the guitar that sits in the corner next to a microphone. Vida provides monthly open mic nights and will open the stage to anyone who is interested in playing at any time. So with the simple but effective imagery, a small map, and a slogan we created a very effective print ad. The company producing the publication ended up placing it on the end page in full gloss because they felt that it stood out so much from the other ads in the booklet.

Globe Miami Times

When Linda contacted us about designing a web-based version for her quarterly visitor’s guide for the Globe-Miami area, she had a simple request. She did not want the site to perpetuate the image of a sleepy old mining town with antique shops. She wanted a fresh, modern look. We came up with a couple design concepts, and decided on a layout that we felt was really energetic and conveyed the message that the area was full of life and spirit.?

At the time, this was the largest site we had every undertaken. The entire site is database driven, allowing for constantly changing dynamic content. Being database driven allows for the webmaster to easily upload new articles and event write-ups, post new events to the calendar, and add businesses to the directory. The result is a constantly changing website that provides up-to-date and relevant content year round.

We were asked to develop a local business directory for the site. The businesses are grouped into categories. When a category is selected, the listings within that category are displayed and their locations are plotted onto a dynamically created map using the Google API. A visitor to the site can get a detailed map and driving directions for any of the listings in the site. The result is a directory that could be used to quickly and easily plan a trip to the Globe-Miami area.

For every page a visitor to the site sees, there is just as much, if not more, in the administrative backend of the site. The site was designed so that the webmaster has full control over all of the site's content. Articles and event write-ups can be easily added, edited and deleted. Events can be easily managed. The business directory is easily managed and updated. There is also a section for the webmaster to manage the ads and coupons displayed on the site.

GlobeMiamiTimes.com is a fully dynamic news site and visitor's guide that was designed with both the site visitors and the webmaster in mind. We wanted to make the site visually pleasing and easy to navigate. We also knew that the site content needed to be easily updated. We are pleased with the results of this site and delivered a site that was fitting of the initial request. The site is alive and full of energy.
